"Family violence is an issue that affects everyone, including deaf and hearing impaired communities, which is why captions for ‘Enough is Enough’ have been commissioned”, said Dr Nick Chamberlain, Chief Executive Northland District Health Board.

Dr Chamberlain is responding to a media statement released today by Green Party disability spokesperson Mojo Mathers.

Northland District Health Board commissioned the captions last week with a company who was so taken with the documentary they offered to do what they could to assist with the project.

“Once the sub titles are completed we will duplicate 600 DVD copies that will be distributed free throughout New Zealand”, Dr Chamberlain said. “Family violence is epidemic in New Zealand so our intention is to spread the message ‘Enough is Enough’ to as many people in the community as possible including those who are deaf or hearing impaired.

The captioned version will also be uploaded to You Tube for public viewing.

The powerful DVD titled ‘Enough is Enough’ is a 27-minute documentary in memory of Patricia Ann McGrath, who was killed by an act of violence in January.

The DVD project was funded by New Zealand Police, the Ministry of Social Development, the It's Not OK campaign and the Northland District Health Board.
