Enzymes Provide a Great Gut Reaction

Enzymes Provide a Great Gut Reaction

Statistics show over 30% of New Zealanders suffer from poor digestion – with modern lifestyles being blamed.

“Surprisingly, our body’s production of enzymes starts to reduce at around the age of 25 years old, and it’s thought lifestyle and poor diets are the cause,” says Tom Bohager, founder of Enzymedica.

“When people have depleted enzymes, they can suffer from chronic health conditions, ranging from: indigestion, heart burn, reflux, bloating, excessive wind and tummy aches.

“Enzymes are a protein that help speed up biochemical reactions that occur in the body. If we didn’t have enzymes, these reactions would occur too slowly for us to survive!”

Every single second of every single day, millions of enzymatic conversions take place in the body to help with everything from processing food, absorbing nutrients to supporting the production of energy that enables our organs, tissues and body systems to function.

The body makes two types of enzymes: metabolic enzymes and digestive enzymes. Digestive enzymes are secreted throughout the digestive tract and help the body break down and absorb nutrients from our foods. Metabolic enzymes look after other body functions.

Tom continues: “Poorly digested proteins decompose in the gut, fats can become rancid and carbohydrates ferment. These undigested food particles can then leak into the bloodstream from the gut and create further toxicity, so the better we digest and break down our foods, the healthier we will be!”

“Digestive enzyme support shouldn’t only be considered for people with digestive issues but for those with chronic health issues – as many don’t realise having a digestive enzyme deficiency can put pressure on other enzyme resources in our body, reducing overall energy and weakening our immune system’s natural defences and other important functions.“

Enzymedica’s Digest Gold with Probiotics is a high potency formula and ideal for people with chronic health or digestive issues / indigestion. Featuring patented Thera-blend technology, the enzymes remain active throughout the entire digestive tract, rather than running out by the time they reach the small intestine (the area of critical need and unfortunately where most other digestive enzymes stop working). The probiotics contained in this formula also survive stomach acid and activate when they arrive where they are needed.

Currently, the company is coordinating and funding research that is on-going. Enzymedica continues to research the therapeutic effectiveness of plant based enzymes through doctors and clinicians.

About Tom Bohager: Tom Bohager is the founder of Enzymedica and is the author of two books: Everything You Need to Know About Enzymes, (2008), and Enzymes: What the Experts Know (2006). In 1998 Tom received extensive training at the Transformation Enzyme Therapy centre in Houston Texas. In that same year he started Enzymedica (a nutritional enzyme supplement company) in an effort to educate and help as many people as possible on the benefits of high potency enzymes and enzyme therapy. With an emphasis on education, Enzymedica has grown to become the number one enzyme company in the Natural Foods Industry.
