Free suicide prevention seminar in Hamilton, 20 November

“The Vine, in association with Life Line Aotearoa, are pleased to confirm a Suicide prevention seminar taking place Thursday November 20th 2014 7:00-8:30pm at The Vine Community Resource Centre, 272 Borman Road, Rototuna.

Kayte Godward, Community Relationships and Suicide Prevention Manager for Lifeline Aotearoa, will lead the seminar, a one hour Community Korero aimed at “starting the conversation” on depression and suicide.

As part of the Seminar attendees will learn important strategies in speaking to people contemplating suicide and what steps to take to ensure their mental and physical wellbeing.

Come along to find out what you can do to support your whanau, friends and significant others with thoughts of suicide. Seats are limited so booking is essential.

About Kayte Godward, Community relationships and suicide prevention manager for Lifeline Aotearoa.

Kayte is the Community Relationships and Suicide Prevention Manager for Lifeline Aotearoa. She has been a trainer and group work facilitator for many years delivering programmes such as; Charles Rapp - Strengths Model, Mary Ellen Copeland - WRAP Plan; Challenging Behaviours, Communication, Stress and Wellbeing, Family Violence, Te Tiriti, and ASIST. She is also a strong advocate for people with lived experience of mental health issues.
In addition to her mental health work Kayte is also an international award winning actress, a writer and film maker and has worked in the television and film industry in Aotearoa, New Zealand for over a decade. Her film credits include The Legend of Johnny Lingo, River Queen, Morepork and her television credits include regular panellist in Maori Television’s Ask your Aunties, Nothing Trivial, Diplomatic Immunity, Serial Killers, Spin Doctors, Mataku among others. Married with two beautiful children and residing in the Waikato, Kayte is committed to help shape a suicide safer future for the many generations to come.
