New wheels for Ronald McDonald House

Immediate Release

12 December 2014

New wheels for Ronald McDonald House thanks to Auckland City Toyota

Ronald McDonald House Auckland (RMHA) has been gifted a Previa van from Auckland City Toyota.

Families who often arrive at the House with no form of transport which can lead to a feeling of isolation. The car will be used to transport families around Auckland, including weekly shopping trips to the supermarket and the St Lukes mall. Some families arrive at RMHA with only the clothes on their back as they have been rushed to Auckland so their child can receive specialist medical treatment, making shopping trips a necessity.

It will also be used to transport families to some of Auckland’s top attractions for family outings such as Rainbows End, Auckland Zoo and Kelly Tarltons. These trips provide a welcome distraction for families who spend most of their days on the hospital ward.

RMHA Operations Manager Anne Kirkpatrick explains “The Previa van enables us to do so much more for families. It is a real treat to take them away from the hospital and House, they have so much going on and a distraction can sometimes be exactly what they need.”

Auckland City Toyota is under new management and providing the new car on a free lease will enable RMHA to continue to keep Kiwi families together and strong.
