CONZTRUCT – Helping ReBuild a TradesPerson for CanTeen

CONZTRUCT – Helping ReBuild a TradesPerson for CanTeen

When the CONZTRUCT Tradeshow Tour opens at Auckland’s ASB Showgrounds on May 3 it will also be the start of a project to rebuild a broken tradesperson and at the same time raise funds for youth cancer charity, CanTeen.

CONZTRUCT is New Zealand’s leading construction tradeshow travelling through 18 locations throughout New Zealand. Each event is designed to help educate and assist with the on-going development for professionals in the building and construction industry.

With more than 4,000 builders, plumbers, electricians, architects and designers and other industry professionals attending the events CONZTRUCT felt that there was plenty of scope to build something and raise important funds for CanTeen.

So they’ve arranged for thousands of pieces of used Lego to be donated to help build a giant Lego character, with visitors to the tradeshow invited to lend a hand.

The character will be built over the next six months, travelling right throughout the country, after which it will be auctioned for additional funds for CanTeen.

CanTeen CEO Bruce Pilbrow says that he’s delighted by the initiative.

“CanTeen’s mission is to ensure no 13-24 year old ever fights cancer alone. We support young people aged 13-24 when cancer turns their world upside down and help them cope with the physical, emotional and practical impact of living with cancer.

“CanTeen is about embracing life and getting on with things – helping young people living with cancer continue to enjoy life and everything it has to offer.

“We are very grateful for the support on CONZTRUCT and the funds raised will help ensure young people have support nearby to rebuild their lives after cancer strikes,” he said.

Ian Watt, General Manager of CONZTRUCT organiser Construction Marketing Services agrees.

“We’re pleased to be able to use our CONZTRUCT Tradeshow Tour to support those in our community that need an extra hand and pleased that we can support CanTeen with this project,” he said.

CONZTRUCT invites guests to bring a handful of Lego pieces to take part in the project on the night they attend, or larger donations of Lego can be donated at any time, with the excess sold and donated to CanTeen.
