For Immediate Release: 25 August 2016

New Kiwi Nappy Company ‘Getting in Behind’ Starship

A new entrant into the nappy market, Rascal+Friends, has little Kiwis covered in more ways than one.

Rascal+Friends nappies launched earlier this month and are designed to keep wee Kiwi kids dry, clean and comfortable while looking cute and stylish. One dollar from every online quadpack purchase will be donated to the Starship Foundation to help support our national children’s hospital.

The nappy newbie, a family-owned, Hamilton-based business, joins Starship’s family of corporate sponsors alongside other much-loved New Zealand brands. The partnership will see the funds going to priority projects within Starship, which provides world-leading care for the nearly 130,000 patient visits from ill and injured children across New Zealand each year.

Starship Foundation Chief Executive Brad Clark says the Foundation is proud to have the support of the start-up with a like-minded passion for supporting Kiwi families. “Rascal+Friends joins a family of wonderful Starship supporters who are all similarly motivated to help us deliver our vision of creating meaningful and magical opportunities that enrich the health of every young New Zealander,” he said.

Rascals+Friends is founded by siblings Grant Taylor and Louise Stainthorpe who say they didn’t think twice about showing their support for the Starship Foundation.

“Starship has pretty much touched the lives of every Kiwi,” Taylor says. “Even if you haven’t had a little one visit at some stage, or been in there yourself, chances are you know a family or have a family member who has. As a family business it was important for us to show our support for a much-loved charity that makes a difference in the lives of families up and down the country. We couldn’t have asked for a more natural fit than Starship.

“This is our small way of supporting sick wee rascals, and the Starship health professionals who perform their magic every single day.”

Rascal+Friends was born in Hamilton, New Zealand in July. The company prides itself on nappies which have superior absorbency and are incredibly soft making them more comfortable for little bottoms. The nappy’s unique features include a higher-than-normal waistband, a large leak guard, a decent-sized pouch to reduce the likelihood of leakage. They are currently sold exclusively online atwww.rascalandfriends.co.nz.
