$25,000 Raised for Breast Cancer Research

$25,000 RAISED FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH

Star power shines on Sealy charity bed auction

Thanks to the star power of some of our favourite celebrities and bed manufacturer Sealy, breast cancer research in New Zealand has received a generous financial boost.

The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation now has $25,000 more to support New Zealanders affected by breast cancer, thanks to image consultant Lorraine Downes, broadcaster Stacey Morrison, cook/dietitian Nadia Lim and Silver Fern Maria Tutaia.

Each ambassador created a bespoke design for a Sealy Posturepedic Exquisite bed. The four beds were auctioned on Trade Me during Breast Cancer Action Month with all proceeds donated to the NZBCF.

Sealy New Zealand marketing manager Jenni Gaze says the company is delighted to be able to contribute to breast cancer research, education, and support services for Kiwi patients.

“It’s the fourth consecutive year of our support and during that time we have raised almost $90,000,” Jenni says. “We are grateful for the support of our fabulous female celebrities, who generously gave up their valuable time for this worthy cause.

“And of course, we are indebted to the wonderful spirit of those who bid so generously on the Trade Me auction during Breast Cancer Action Month in October.”

New Zealand has one of the world’s highest breast cancer rates with the disease affecting one in nine women and claiming more than 600 lives every year.

Chief executive of NZBCF Van Henderson says the money raised by the Sealy Posturepedic bed auctions helps to “support research and valuable programmes to improve the treatment and quality of life for Kiwi women with the disease”.
