The Smokefree South 12 days of Christmas!
Southern DHB Smokefree team are going festive by celebrating with their own version of the 12 days of Christmas!
To encourage people to stop smoking, the team have created a fun video featuring staff, colleagues in the community, mayors and lots of wonderful children who have all enjoyed taking part.
Starting 1 December, each of the 12 days of Smokefree Christmas has a different theme which will be posted daily on Smokefree South’s Facebook page. People who smoke and are keen to give stopping a go are asked to ‘like’ the page and contact the Smokefree team who can refer them to the Southern Stop Smoking service for help and support to stop smoking. These people are then entered into a draw to win one of 12 $50 Warehouse vouchers. On Monday 12 December, the full video will be launched on Facebook and Southern DHBs YouTube channel.

“We’ve had lots of fun making the video, but the message is serious as we really want to encourage people to stop smoking. We’re here for support and we’re hoping that people will engage in the Smokefree South Facebook page and take notice of the video and give themselves and their family a fabulous gift of stopping smoking for Christmas,” said Southern DHB Smokefree Coordinator Debby Newton.
The idea for the Smokefree South 12 days of Christmas came from Yorkshire Smokefree in the U.K who kindly agreed for Southern DHB to use the idea to create their own video.

On the 5th day of Christmas, not smoking gave to me, A STRONG BEATING HEART, lovely white teeth, more cash to spend, no morning cough, and a healthy life and energy.
On the 6th day of Christmas, not smoking gave to me, NO SMOKY CARS, a strong beating heart, lovely white teeth, more cash to spend, no morning cough and a healthy life and energy.
On the 7th day of Christmas not smoking gave to me, HEALTHIER CHILDREN, no smoky cars, a strong beating heart, lovely white teeth, more cash to spend, no morning cough and healthy life and energy.
On the 8th day of Christmas, not smoking gave to me, LESS CHANCE OF WRINKLES, healthier children, no smoky cars, a strong beating heart, lovely white teeth, more cash to spend, no morning cough, and a healthy life and energy.
On the 9th day of Christmas, not smoking gave to me, MORE BACKYARD CRICKET, less chance of wrinkles, healthier children, no smoky cars, a strong beating heart, lovely white teeth, more cash to spend, no morning cough and a healthy life and energy.
On the 10th day of Christmas, not smoking gave to me, SWEET SMELLING CLOTHING, more backyard cricket, less chance of wrinkles, healthier children, no smoky cars, a strong beating heart, lovely white teeth, more cash to spend, no morning cough and healthy life and energy.
On the 11th day of Christmas, not smoking gave to me EASIER BREATHING, sweet smelling clothing, more backyard cricket, less chance of wrinkles, healthier children, no smoky cars, a strong beating heart, lovely white teeth, more cash to spend, no morning cough, and a healthy life and energy.
On the 12th day of Christmas, not smoking gave to me, MORE TIME WITH WHĀNAU, easier breathing, sweet smelling clothing, more backyard cricket, less chance of wrinkles, healthier children, no smoky cars, a strong beating heart, lovely white teeth, more cash to spend, no morning cough, and healthy life and energy.
