Federation to invite consumer representation

The Establishment Board setting up the Federation of Primary Health Aotearoa New Zealand met for the third time on Friday 25 May 2018 under the chairmanship of Dame Annette King.

“We are on track to shortly be inviting membership applications as well as expressions of interest for the consumer representative(s) on our substantive governance board. I am delighted with the Establishment Board’s continued progress and that really bodes well for the Federation to support delivery of the priorities for primary health.” says Dame Annette King.

Following the previous meetings held on 10 April and 7 May 2018, the latest meeting continued to make significant progress which included:
• Agreement of the Federation’s Mission Statement which is: To make comprehensive primary health care the foundation of the New Zealand health system.
• Agreement to call for expressions of interest in respect of the consumer representative(s) on the substantive governance board.
• Appointment of Philip Grant as the Establishment Project Manager.
• Further development of the action plan and timelines to become fully operational.
Annette King continued on to say “We are receiving a significant level of interest in the Federation from across the sector. The establishment of a unified voice to lead the future development of primary health care in New Zealand appears widely welcomed and long overdue.”

The Federation’s workplan will continue apace with the next formal meeting of the Establishment Board being scheduled for 17 July 2018.
