Corporate – Charity partnerships supporting life changing research here in the South Island

A Global Architectural firm, Marchese Partners is teaming up with a local Construction Company, ABL Construction to support the research initiatives of The Bowel and Liver Trust.

Using the theme of Casino Royale – The reinvention of James Bond for a major Fundraising event works so well for us as funding research is about re-inventing Health outcomes.

New Zealand has some of the highest rates of Gut disease in the OECD countries. In Canterbury, our Research has shown a 50% increase in Inflammatory Bowel Disease in the last 10 years. Every day in New Zealand 9 people are diagnosed with Bowel Cancer and 3 of those die.

There is a real alignment with their (Marchese Partners), unique approach, their passion and their commitment to using research to re-imagine the way they consider design, care and value of their specialisation in lifestyle living for seniors, say Margaret Fitzgerald, General Manager Bowel and Liver Trust. The issue we both face is we are dealing with strong cultures of not talking about or sweeping under the carpet subjects such as Bowel issues. This is not dissimilar to attitudes toward end of life conversations and the value we place on aging Australians and New Zealanders.

Marchese Partners are no strangers to Research and already work with leading research institutes such as Melbourne University and Stirling University in the UK. Specialising in architecture for over fifties living they have won Global awards for their design in this area. Their focus is on changing the perception of what the future of seniors living lifestyle environments look like by combing art and science. They are already working toward bringing this re-invention in over 50s living to Christchurch and the wider Canterbury area.
