Send a greeting card or postcard – and help save a life

Send a greeting card or postcard – and help save a life

Greeting cards have been touching people’s hearts for generations, but now they can actually help those hearts to get healthier.

That comes courtesy of the Heart Foundation’s partnership with New Zealand Post – which is the principal sponsor of the Foundation’s ‘Go Red for Women’ programme.

“Most people are unaware that heart disease is the single biggest cause of death for women in New Zealand, and they don’t realise the tragic reality that many of those deaths are premature or preventable,” New Zealand Post’s head of sponsorship Nicola Airey says.

“‘Go Red for Women’ is the Heart Foundation’s rallying call to New Zealand women to take control of their heart health, and New Zealand Post is 100 percent behind them.

“As one way of showing our support, New Zealand Post has made it easy for people using our popular greeting card service – Send a Card – to support the Heart Foundation at the same time.”

With ‘Send a Card’ people go online to design greeting cards or postcards – uploading their own picture or selecting from a range of professional designs. “We print your card out on high quality card, with a premium satin finish, and deliver it to the letterbox of your friend or loved one anywhere in the world,” Nicola Airey says.

“Our ‘Send a Card’ website now features a simple two-click process to add a donation to the Heart Foundation.

“If you make a donation then the card you send will include a Heart Foundation logo on the inside cover, along with a small line recording the fact you made a donation when sending this card. It’s a lovely addition, especially at this time of year when so many people are entering into the Christmas spirit.

“It doesn’t matter what sort of card you’re sending – special occasion, sharing a funny picture, postcards or greeting cards - you can choose any appropriate image, personalise the message, and help in the battle against heart disease all in a few clicks of your mouse.”

The Heart Foundation is delighted to be working with New Zealand Post and for the opportunity to raise awareness around heart disease at Christmas time.

“This is the one time of year when everyone the length and breadth of New Zealand is thinking about their loved ones,” says Paul Scoringe, Heart Foundation Marketing and Communications Manager. “So this is a poignant yet positive way of reminding people about a disease that devastates so many New Zealand families each year.”

The ability to donate while sending cards is the first of many programmes New Zealand Post will be launching in the months ahead to support the Heart Foundation.

To find out more about ‘Send a Card’ or to create your own card visit: sendacard.co.nz - prices start from $3.99. Donations to the Heart Foundation can also be made at any PostShop, via a special KiwiBank account.
