BIG LATCH ON 2012 - Friday 3rd of August

The countdown is on for the 2012 Big Latch On! Thank you to everyone who has already registered, it is shaping up to be another record breaking event with over 50 venues already registered nationwide in an attempt to beat last year’s official record of 1564 women breastfeeding at the same time across Aotearoa New Zealand .

Your venue can be anywhere: Your local Marae, Church , your house, cinema , your workplace, hospital , a local café, a park, Play Centre , Plunket we even had a Big Latch On on a plane! Anywhere as long as it is in New Zealand.

Big Latch On has now also taken off globally, attracting even more mothers and their babies to participate in this event (see www.biglatchon.org – for information on venues outside of NZ)

The Big Latch On will be turning eight this year and each year has seen increasing involvement and support for the event from communities large and small around New Zealand. Better still, the positive impacts of the Big Latch On have extended past the event itself. The Big Latch On has prompted the establishment of breastfeeding support groups in areas where mothers are isolated, and events like this help us as a community to reach out and support one another. The Big Latch On is part of events taking place during World Breastfeeding Week (1st - 7th of August).

Promoting ,Protecting and Supporting Breastfeeding

All venues registered by 5pm on the Friday 27th of July will automatically go into the draw to win one of these fantastic prizes. The winners of the prize pool will be announced before the event and prizes will be couriered to venues to be distributed, however you wish, on the day.
