More Funding = Afterschool Care for Disabled Children

MEDIA RELEASE

30 June 2014

More Funding = Access to Afterschool Care for Disabled Children.

Rainbow Umbrella Trust are holding a Hui in Napier on Monday 14th July to discuss ways to promote a review of funding for children with disabilities.

The Hui aims to gather community support to address this issue so that all children throughout New Zealand can be part of an inclusive society where, with adequate funding, they can access an afterschool programme of their choice. Currently there is no choice for children who have high needs. Our aim is to force the Government to review the current level of child care subsidies for these children.

Our mission is for equal rights for disabled children with regard to afterschool child care provision. The funding available is inadequate and results in this group of children being excluded from mainstream programmes.

The Hui will take place at the Greenmeadows East Hall, Tait Drive, Napier from 10.00am – 2pm

Refreshments and child care facilities provided. To book childcare at the hui contact Ellen Marie on 06 843 4174 as spaces will be limited.

To register to attend please call 06 843 4174 or email to rainbowumbrellaafcare@gmail.com by 7th July. More information is available on Facebook address Rainbow Umbrella After-school Care.
