Explore pleased to be part of Piki youth mental health pilot

Explore Specialist Advice (Explore) is proud to be a partner in the Piki pilot, which was announced today and will offer free mental health support to thousands of 18-25 year olds across Wellington, the Hutt Valley and Wairarapa.

“Explore is contributing to the Piki pilot by providing psychology support and supervision to all practitioners working under the programme,” says Sean Versteegh, Explore General Manager.

“I am particularly excited that Piki provides an opportunity to reach an age group who have in the past been difficult to engage through traditional medical settings. By making specialists available alongside peer-to-peer conversations and online support, Piki will offer a different way of providing high quality mental health support.”

“By putting people at the centre of their own support, Piki reflects Explore’s focus on working not just with the individual, but alongside their family/whānau, friends and wider communities.”

“Alongside Tū Ora Compass Health and the other project partners, we look forward to supporting many more young people as they navigate the world around them, learn new skills, and find their own paths to happy and meaningful lives.”

“Mental health is a challenge all New Zealanders face – either for themselves or with someone they care about. Through the Piki pilot with Tū Ora Compass Health, Explore looks forward to being able to quickly and effectively provide more young people with the support they need,” Mr Versteegh says.
