Drug Billionaire’s Lawyer Stalls For Time
The trial challenging the name suppression case of the
drug importing billionaire caught bringing in cannabis into
Auckland airport will not be heard until Thursday.
The New Zealand Herald reported today that the judge who ordered the name suppression of the billionaire would consider an appeal to overturn his decision on Thursday.
The Herald wants the right to reveal the man’s name which has been widely reported in the foreign press and on the internet.
But the man’s lawyer Marie Dyhrberg says her client will fight the name suppression appeal.
She has launched a counter appeal to stop Herald lawyers viewing a file on the trial containing a transcript of what was said in the original hearing.
Ms Dyhrberg's appeal will be heard in the High Court.
