Current Account Deficit Contains No Surprises

Balance of Payment statistics released moments ago by the Department of Statistics contain no surprises say economists.

The deficit for the year to June was 7.54 Billion, 7.1% of GDP and roughly the same as revised BOP figures issued last week.

The quarterly figure was $1.392 billion which compares with $1.181 billion for the previous year.

On a seasonally adjusted basis the deficit has improved for the past two quarters.
