TOP SCOOPS

Tennis Stars’ Undies Compete With Rankin’s Legs For News Space

- It's ironic that some of our nation's sports photographers (and their editors) are acting like pimply 13 year olds in the same week that various news media have displayed their distaste about the treatment of ex CEO of the Department of Work and Income, Christine Rankin, as a 'sexual icon'. See... Rank Photographers And Rankin's Cleavage [1]

Lindsay Perigo: Govt Media Wing Ignores Libertarian Speaker

- It's a funny thing, the New Zealand Herald. It used to be called Granny Herald because of its conservatism, & lampooned as the print arm of the National Party. Now it is the print arm of the present Labour/Alliance government, & it pleases me to call it the Daily Marxist. See... Lindsay Perigo: Alas, Poor Herald! [1]

Govt Can’t Abide By Own Abode Proposal

- Housing Minister, Mark Gosche, should 'clean up his own backyard' while he gets stuck into landlords with substandard rental properties, National's Housing spokesperson David Carter said today. See... Gosche Action Over Landlords Hypocritical [1] and Substandard Housing Concern – Govt [2]

Stateside: The Miracle Of ‘One Nation’

- Dabbing at my patriotic eyes as the marching bands play and the fireworks flash, I notice that the Kleenex I'm using comes from a “format de poche”. I guess I bought that “pocket pack” on my trip to Canada. See... Stateside with Rosalea : Freedom's Chimes Flashing [1]

Scoop Excellent, But Not Excellent Enough!

– Scoop online excellence resumes this morning following a voyage by the Scoop team to the Computerworld Excellence Awards in Auckand over the weekend. Nominated for the IT industry’s equivalent of the “Best Picture” Oscar, Scoop was pipped at the post for the big award of the night by South Auckland Health. Scoop’s team therefore returned home without a statuette, but with several certificates, and thoroughly buoyed spirits. See also... Aziz Choudhry: Miasma Of Mini MAIs

- You've got to wonder at the nerve of New Zealand trade officials. During the furtive Multilateral Agreement on Investment negotiations and the subsequent international waves of opposition they were quietly hatching binding bilateral investment deals containing provisions resembling some of the most controversial elements of the MAI. See... We Must Mobilise Against A Miasma of Mini-MAIs [1]

Hard News Is Here - Everybody Resign!

Russell Brown distils and digests the "Rankin Files" in this week's HARD NEWS - "Indeed, the whole thing was a shocker. As Prebble and Rankin's counsel engaged in a farcical debate about whether Rankin was that day wearing the very same top that he'd found so over the top, she sat in the gallery readjusting her cleavage and gurning for the camera...". Gordon Campbell: On The Politicising Of The War On Drugs In Sport

It hasn’t been much fun at all to see how “war on drugs in sport” has become a proxy version of the Cold War, fixated on Russia. This weekend’s banning of the Russian long jumper Darya Klishina took that fixation to fresh extremes. More>>

Binoy Kampmark: Kevin Rudd’s Failed UN Secretary General Bid
