Feedback: Threat of World Water Crisis |
||
Dear Editor,
I notice, in a report from the UN today, that a looming water crisis could threaten one in three people by 2025 sparking as much conflict this century as oil did in the last.
24 years is not a long time and perhaps now is the time for New Zealand to re-visit the possibility of extracting clean water from the Milford Sounds and other areas using bio-secure and environmentally sound practices.
The potential here for significant overseas earnings at minimal cost in infrastructure is immense.
We should be looking closely at this opportunity now and not wait until the pressure comes on and things get done half pie in the interests of making a quick buck.
