Feedback: God Save America

An apology to Michael Kepler and the American people on behalf of many New Zealanders

On behalf of many New Zealanders, I feel compelled to apologise to Michael Kepler (See... Feedback: Three Disgruntled Readers ; 1 Oct 2001) and to the American people. The disgusting ravings of a small group of, eco-fundamentalist, desperate communists, left wing academics and apologist for our pathetic Governments feeble initial response to the disgusting immoral act of war declared on your wonderful country by those inhuman monsters on 11 September.

Our Prime Minister's initial response was to initially use the events to declare ANZUS dead and to say that NZ is now "like Finland and Sweden". However, Helen, ever the pragmatist, did a bit of "spot" polling and discovered that New Zealanders' were in fact horrified by the events and wanted us to do our bit. So now we stand "shoulder to shoulder" with America and we are prepared to dive in, SAS and all. What U-turn Helen, you must have upset the Greens immensely, still better late than never and hopefully the Americans won't have noticed.

The "smug" ranting in Scoop over the last few weeks by the appeasers and apologist for those despicable acts committed in the name "Islamic Fundamentalism" have disgusted a great many of New Zealanders along with many overseas readers. The shallow, barely disguised hatred of these for America, and all she stands for, have at least been exposed for all to see. These are the same left wing academics, greens, anarchists, animal-rights activists, and anti-globalisation protesters that appear on regular bases on protest marches, commit acts of violence, and are given a sympathetic hearing in the wider media. The usual comments like "America brought this on themselves", "Capitalism is to blame" ring loudly as these armchair strategist proclaim that reacting, with force, will only make thing worse. Really, did they not think the murder of 6,000 people in a few minutes "dramatic" enough, do they really think that these "scum" will now stop as they have made their point! These "scum" are out there now, they do not want to negotiate, they will not give any warning of an attack and they are not interested in claiming any responsibility or fame. Their agenda is to murder, by any means at their disposal, as many of the "enemy" as possible. This, by any definition, is an act of war. These scum are to be hunted down, with out mercy, and eliminated both financially and physically - justice will be done.

Scoop as not been alone in giving these people a venue to express their opinion our "National Radio" as given taxpayer funded air time to these naive fools. I had the misfortune of listening to the ratings of Chris Laidlaw, Warick Roger et al on a Sunday show a week or so ago, more of the same anti American sentiment and promotion of appeasement. I shall not repeat any more, or less I may well vomit on the keyboard.

Much talk as been of an up coming war between civilisations, defined as a war between Christianity and Islam. Not the case in my view, this is a war between tolerance verses fundamentalism, rational verses irrational, freedom verses slavery and democracy verses totalitarianism. The difference between the former camps is that their proponents hold the view that their beliefs are the only ones that are right and if they cannot get their way they will cause disruption, property damage, and in some cases resort to violence and murder.

You are free to hold your views, free to speak about them but do not dare force them on me.

The battle lines are drawn, I know which side I am on, God save America!
