Scoop Images: Eco-Challenge Visits Lake Ohau |
||
More images of the environs of the most photogenic mountain village in the world taken by Norman Mackay .
Situated at the foot of Mt Glen Mary, just before you enter the Hopkins Valley, the Huxley Lodge area is being used by Eco-Challenge group as they pass through the Lake Ohau area.

Huxley Lodge itself is normally used by school parties as an outdoor pursuit centre during school holidays. There was a little snow on the mountain tips last night making it quite cold for the competitors.

Yesterday was a sunny day with an air temperature of about 9C. This is however much reduced by the easterly wind chill which is dropping the temperature to about 4 - 5C.
A marshal I spoke to said that the New Zealand team was way out in front with a very big lead on the rest of the field. About seven teams have dropped out at this stage of the race. The information I was given said that there were about sixty seven teams competing.
