Ike Finau, who has been campaigning against the commercialisation and privatisation of Auckland City's water supply for three years, has become something of a celebrity in Grey Lynn for his communication strategy in support of the cause.

Ike's home is festooned with signs and, despite Council's efforts to have them removed, he so far has refused to budge and take them down. An activist and ally of the Water Pressure Group, which today (Friday 23 Nov) took its unique challenge to court, Ike says "Water is the gift of life. It's basic to all life and (access to water) is a basic human right."
