Scoop Poems: Palestinian Crystal in Israel's Night

Palestinian Crystal in Israel's Night

By Genevieve Cora Fraser

A fractured tale
A Grimm foretelling
Countless crystal nights
Retold as Israeli bulldozers
Churn destruction unsettling
Palestinian refugee homes

German and Jew
Were forbidden to marry
Now Jew and Palestinian
Can't wed so many blueprints
Sharon relies on to repeat
Hitler's dread

Shops are smashed
Window's broken
Just like they were before
In the sweaty mold
Of ignominious moments
Israeli strategies unfold

So clever to attack a mosque
With crowds of worshippers
Gathered as bullets fly
The old men clutch
And women clasp
Loved ones close in fear

IDF malevolent gods swoop
Down from skies and shell
As tanks reign on sacred sites
Of an ancient people stripped of rights
A gated community locked up tight
To suffer Israel's tyranny

Towers loom
Dread and gloom grow
As the wall stretches
Venomously round village
And farm, pasture and stream
The noose pulls ever tighter

Enraged, entrapped
Palestine resistance
Is met by IDF assault
As troops burst into banks
Not safe from Zionist
Thieving marauders

Extermination is too harsh
A word though the fact
Grows ever plainer
As spring draws near
It's time to sweep
Once more the Ethnics
Cleaner

An Israeli Occupation Not Fit for Humans

By Genevieve Cora Fraser

Subjugation
A kin to master
Slave asymmetry
Radically alters
A heritage made noble
By Jewish suffering

Ancient Palestinia
Urbane and pastoral
Verdant and thriving
The wellspring of Semite prophets
You
Dispersed in a Diaspora
Of global Bedouins banished
Encircled by betrayal
In cantons of terror
Encamped, dismembered
Waiting to emerge
A nascent nation
United

Resistance
Persists
Spirits past
The onslaught
Of evil in flight
Murder in the night
Rampage by day
A warfare to suppress
Depress, compress
Millions & millions
Of ancient souls

Tainted water
Gassed in Gaza
Baby slaughter
Systematic
Extermination
Of son and daughter
Semite and Samaritan
Laid desolate

Sorrow and regret
You express

A Holocaust enshrined
Psychosis enables
Marauders to masquerade
As the entitled

Bite by bite
You take by might
Deed by deed
Bloody hands
Seize the land

Awaken, repent, redemption
Is at hand
You are in the Holy Land

The olive branch of peace
Uprooted and cast to fire
An incense to ignite
A burnt offering
To inspire
The Phoenix
Palestine
Ashes to
Dust

Will rise
