By Genevieve Cora Fraser

E-mail Gaza
Real time
7:05 AM
From Hanini
Please forward
Mary here hell
Is occurring now
You hung up
And they began
The shelling
Is continuous
I cannot sleep
I must leave
The journalist
Laptop OK
Shelling here
Must leave

Mary I'll
Send you
Pictures they
Are shelling
Civilian houses
Now more
OK shelling
From Apaches

Mary I'm
In the hospital
Here using
The laptop
Of that journalist
Here the doctors
Don't know how
To collect
The body parts
Of the injured
People they
Get mixed
And no one
Knows who
Got killed

I have many
Many pictures
Apaches shelling
No sleep in two
Days must leave
He needs his
Computer now
Before we get

Mary one
Of my relatives
I can't identify many
Many parts of his body
Burnt by the apache
Warplanes I don't
Know if these
Fingers belong
To him or not
OK will see
This man needs
His computer
Must get this story
Out before
The electricity

They are
Shelling now the
Apaches shelling
People are feeling
So many
Many things
Must move now
Tell me
If you want
Me to write
About the
Tired now
OK he needs
This computer
Will finish
And give him
His laptop
Must leave

May is Al-Nakba Remembrance Month

Killer Israel Suffocates Palestine

By Genevieve Cora Fraser

Isolated behind the wall
In the place the soldiers
Deny exists Palestine
Every day we wait
For the soldiers
To unlock the gate
To freedom Palestine
To work to school
To the fields
We are denied
Men sleep till noon
Depressed unable
To do what is needed
To seek permission
Denied entry
On their land
Anger wells
Inside the shell of self
Pours out onto the family
The streets fights
Break out anger bursts
Like gunfire towards
The wall hate
They can no longer
Suppress spills
Out in defiance
At the wall hemmed
In a life so unjust
The crush of Israel's
Denial they exist
Swallow pride
As they swallow
Your lives
Your land
Does not
It is Israel
The soldiers

Gordon Campbell: On The Politicising Of The War On Drugs In Sport

It hasn’t been much fun at all to see how “war on drugs in sport” has become a proxy version of the Cold War, fixated on Russia. This weekend’s banning of the Russian long jumper Darya Klishina took that fixation to fresh extremes. More>>

Binoy Kampmark: Kevin Rudd’s Failed UN Secretary General Bid

Few sights are sadder in international diplomacy than seeing an aging figure desperate for honours. In a desperate effort to net them, he scurries around, cultivating, prodding, wishing to be noted. Finally, such an honour is netted, in all likelihood just to shut that overly keen individual up. More>>

Ramzy Baroud: Being Black Palestinian - Solidarity As A Welcome Pathology

It should come as no surprise that the loudest international solidarity that accompanied the continued spate of the killing of Black Americans comes from Palestine; that books have already been written and published by Palestinians about the plight of their Black brethren.
