On the way to Yosemite, we stopped at the town of Turlock, where residents have a direct line to the Almighty.

Besides being able to hire bikes, you can hire rubber dinghies to paddle on the Merced River. There were so many by mid-afternoon, that it looked like a bumper-car ride at the local A&P.

This meadow made possible by the hand of Mother Nature, whose floodwaters wiped out all the lodges, stores and geegaw stalls in 1997. You go, girl!
