Peak Oil: Crude Price Hits US$100 a Barrel - The Green Party is warning that the record breaking crude oil price of US$100 per barrel is just the first flirtation in what is going to be a long term relationship with triple digits in an ongoing trend of rising oil prices. The price of oil reportedly surged during the first trading day in the New Year with light sweet crude rising US$4.02 to US$100 a barrel in New York. More >> [1]

Grim Statistics: 2007 Road Toll Rises On Last Year - 422 people died on New Zealand roads last year. The Ministry of Transport said nearly 4,600 deaths and 132,000 injuries from crashes on our roads over the past 10 years... The deadliest year on our roads was 1973, when 843 were killed. The lowest road toll in over 40 years was in 2006.
