Tomatoes Cause Inflation - Food prices
increased 0.7 percent in the March 2008 month, Statistics
New Zealand said today. The increase was mainly due to
higher prices for the fruit and vegetables subgroup (up 3.1
percent), in particular tomatoes (up 79.9 percent). More

Less Money Spent On Cars, More On Food -
Seasonally adjusted total retail sales fell 0.7 percent in
February 2008, Statistics New Zealand said today. This fall
was largely due to a 5.8 percent decrease in motor vehicle
retailing. Excluding the four vehicle-related industries,
core retail sales rose 0.2 percent, lifted by a 1.6 percent
increase in supermarket and grocery store sales. More
