Scoop Images – Pork Products Still Not Kosher
Animal rights activists demonstrated outside a Wellington supermarket Monday to protest a “welfare approved” label on pork products that they say is misleading.
The NZ Pork Industry Board has proposed a “welfare approved” label for products from any farm which meets the current pig welfare code.
But animal lobby group SAFE says the code itself is not up to scratch, citing the 2009 scandal sparked by TV presenter Mike King’s undercover visit to a farm using sow crates.
Scoop’s coverage of the protest follows.
