Privileges Committee And Extended Hours

The Business Committee today decided on membership of some important parliamentary committees including the Privileges Committee and also agreed the House sit extended hours on March 8.

The committee also agreed the Ngati Manuhiri Claims Settlement Bill and the Ngati Whatua Orakei Claims Bill be treated as cognate bills for their first reading; and

The Maraeroa A and B Blocks Claims Settlement Bill and the Maraeroa A and B Blocks Incorporation Bill be treated as cognate bills for their first, second and third readings

These bills and the Rongowhakaata Claims Settlement Bill (first reading) will be progressed during extended sitting hours on Thursday, March 8.

The committee also agreed to extend the time by which the Local Government and Environment Committee must report the Exclusive Economic Zone and Continental Shelf (Environmental Effects) Bill to the House from Wednesday, February 29 2012 to Tuesday, May 15 2012.
