The Return of MOM
MPs will return to legislation setting up the partial sale of the energy state owned enterprises when Parliament resumes today.
The Mixed Ownership Model Bill moved closer to passing into law on Wednesday night but failed to complete its committee stage.
There still remains a motion to split the bill into two parts for their third reading debates. If Parliament follows customary practice then the third reading will take place on the next sitting day (Tuesday 26).
Next on the Order Paper is the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims (2012
Expiry and Application Dates) Amendment Bill. It is
another piece of temporary legislation on the issue and
seeks to ensure that any compensation paid to prisoners is
redirected to victims or services to victims.
The current
ban is due to expire at the end of this month and this bill
will extend that for another year. A permanent legislative
solution is yet to be debated by
MPs.
