Dairy Industry Reform Bill To Pass

Legislation reforming the dairy industry and allowing Fonterra members to trade shares in the co-operative is set to pass into law on Tuesday afternoon.

The third reading of the Dairy Industry Restructuring Amendment Bill is scheduled to debated following Question Time and completed its committee stage by 64 to 57 with National, Maori Party, ACT and United Future supporting.

Also due for debate are the first readings of the Families Commission Amendment Bill and the Companies and Limited Partnerships Amendment Bill

The Families Commission Amendment Bill folds the commission down to a single Families Commissioner and other members, amends some functions of the Commission and provides for the appointment of a Social Science Experts Panel to provide academic peer review and guidance.
