Wake’s Birthday Marked

MPs agreed to a motion from Winston Peters that the House mark war hero Nancy Wake's 100th birthday, when Parliament resumed at 2pm.

A report on the Customs and Excise (Tobacco Products—Budget Measures) Amendment Bill by the Finance and Expenditure Committee was presented as was the Annual Report of the Judicial Conduct Commissioner

Leader of the House Gerry Brownlee said in the Business Statement that after a one week adjournment next week, the Government would seek to progress a number of bills including the Biosecurity Law Reform Bill, the Patents Bill and Land Transport Management Amendment Bill.


The Government introduced the; Subordinate Legislation (Confirmation and Validation) Bill, the Marine Legislation Bill, Public Finance (Fiscal Responsibility) Amendment Bill and the State Sector and Public Finance Reform Bill

Four Members’ bills were introduced:

Oaths and Declarations (Upholding the Treaty of Waitangi) Amendment Bill Te Ururoa Flavell

Local Government (Public Libraries) Amendment Bill Darien Fenton
