Congress have changed the definition of Poor

Congress have changed the definition of Poor

Rao Narbir Singh
BJP Vice President, Haryana

Chandigarh 24th July 2013 : Commenting on the planning commission’s repot which says in last year’s 15 % people have been upgraded to above poverty line is a biggest joke of the year Rao Narbir Singh Vice President, Bhartiya Janta Party (Haryana) said. The entire country is witnessing poverty ridden households in many states. The farmers are suiciding and our worthy planning commission members sitting in AC rooms on the behest of ruling congress party are playing with the sentiments of a common man.

He said the congress has well played, it has gone hell bend to change the definition of poor’s because, it has been miserably failed to do anything for poorer since last so many years. The report which says a person who spend Rs 27.20 or less will not be poor is actually hurting the feelings of those millions of household who are unable to meeting their both ends despite spending over Rs 100 a day due to high prices of essentials commodities. In a country where any family whether in city or villages have to spend minimum Rs 500-700 on medicines or other small treatments or visiting doctors and they says

A person is not poor if he will spend Rs 816 in a month. Probably one who decide the new definition of poor never ever been to market to buy daily needs ration and dals.

The report says in a village if a household of R5 spend less than Rs 816 in a month and Rs 1000 in a month in urban will not be considered as poor. A family of 5 people which spend Rs 4080 in village in a month and Rs 5000 in a city will not be poor any more.

Rao Narbir singh who is also the vice president of Bhartiya Janta Party Haryana State told how insensitive one can we, how can you expect a family of 5 to manage in Rs 4080 while the prices of essential commodities are sky rocketing. Forget others the Dals and vegetables are touching Rs 100 a kg, highly inflated power bills are there so how can one even thinking of keeping poor beyond this boundary line. He said if poverty is eliminating then why this huge MNAREGA and food security bill are there.
