Govt Motions Pass |
||
Two Government motions passed in Parliament this afternoon.
The first was a motion declaring Mighty River Power Limited to be a public organisation for the purposes of Standing Orders. The motion ensured the partially privatised state owned enterprise could be scrutinised by parliament through the select committee process.
This was followed by a procedural motion changing Standing Order allowing the Speaker to grant leave to MPs to be absent from Parliament on account of illness or other family causes of a personal nature.
The motions both passed on a voice vote.
The committee stage of the Administration of Community Sentences and Orders Bill was also completed on a voice vote and reported with amendment.
The House rose at 6pm interrupting the second reading of the Insolvency Practitioners Bill.
Parliament then went into a two week adjournment.
