Govt Wins Confidence Vote

The Government has won the first confidence vote of this Parliament.

The Address in Reply Debate was completed and its related motion was agreed by 64 to 57 with National, Maori Party, ACT and United Future in favour.

A no-confidence motion 57 to 64 was defeated with Labour, Greens and NZ First supporting.

There was some confusion over the Maori Party’s position on the no confidence motion, but in the end their two votes were cast against it.

MPs began the the third reading of the Employment Relations Amendment Bill, which is opposed by all parties except National, ACT and United Future.
