World Cup Alcohol Bill Report Presented

The Sale and Supply of Alcohol (Extended licensing hours during Rugby World Cup) Bill was reported back from the Justice and Electoral Committee when Parliament resumed this afternoon.

The bill was heavily amended and contained a minority report from the Greens opposing the bill.

The bill will allow licensed premises to open for the screening of Rugby World Cup games in the early hours of the morning without gaining a special license. It is by leave going to go through its remaining stages later today.

The Environment Canterbury (Transitional Governance Arrangements) Bill was introduced and MPs began Question Time.
