The Week Ahead in Parliament

Parliament will continue with the Address in Reply Debate this week with MPs making Maiden Speeches and the Government intending to make progress on its Bills.

After Question Time today, the interrupted debate in reply to the Speech from the Throne will continue with 12 hours 2 minutes remaining.

Leader of the House Chris Hipkins has indicated the Government will interrupt the debate on Tuesday and Wednesday evening to progress Government Bills.

Currently on top of the Order Paper is the Committee Stage of the Parental Leave and Employment Protection Amendment Bill and the Committee Stage of the Healthy Homes Guarantee Bill (No 2). The latter Bill was a Member’s Bill which has now been adopted by the Government.
