PM's Press Conference 20/11/17: Pike Re-Entry Agency

At today's post-cabinet press conference Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was joined by Minister Responsible for Pike River Re-entry Andrew Little to announce plans for the new agency for re-entry of the mine.

The Pike River Recovery Agency, Te Kahui Whakamana Rua Tekau ma Iwa, will be officially established on 31 January 2018 and will work with the Pike River families with the intention of manned entry of the drift before March 2019.

The Prime Minister said she would make the first announcement on the Government's tax working group this week. She also answered questions on plans for dealing with the rising road toll, reports Donald Trump thought she was Justin Trudeau's wife, the merits of National's ideas for shared parental leave, plans for current foreign land purchase applications under the Overseas Investment Act, the possibility of renewed defence force airs strike capability, Māori broadcasting funding, and Labour's planned half-day caucus on Friday.
