PM's Post-Cabinet Press Conference 13/8/18: Trees Company

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was joined by Minister for Forestry Shane Jones and Associate Minister Meka Whaitiri to announce plans to spend $240 million more in grants from the Provincial Growth Fund toward the government's One Billion Trees programme. The money will support exotic and native planting ventures as well as workforce training.

Other topics covered include the Commissioner for Children's comments on the effects of methamphetamine use in Northland, the collapse of the Turkish Lira, a sex offender being placed in the same motel as a vulnerable family, the upcoming teachers strike, the size of Parliament, the Māori seats, the timing of the Māori electoral option, the PM's use of crown cars, a new medal for the public service, housing affordability, unfortunate ads from real estate managers, and Don Brash's nomination for New Zealander of the Year, about which the PM declined to give judgment.
