Business Statement - Urgent Bill On Building Issues

The Financial Reviews Bill would be one the Government’s priorities when Parliament next sits.

Leader of the House Gerry Brownlee said after the coming one week adjournment the Government would seek to make progress on the set piece debate that arises from financial reviews.

The Government would also seek to make progress on the Student Loan Scheme Amendment Bill (No 2) and the Minimum Wage (Starting-out Wage) Amendment Bill.

In response to questions, Brownlee said an urgent, short bill relating to the building portfolio was being written and would be circulated before discussions on how it would proceed.

The Auditor-General’s report, Ministry for Primary Industries: Preparing for and responding to biosecurity incursions was tabled.

Select Committee reports were presented on:

2011/12 financial review of the Taranaki District Health Board as reported by the Health Committee;

Report from the Controller and Auditor-General, New Zealand Defence Force: The civilianisation project, January 2013 as reported by the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee.
