House Resumes

A number of papers and other material was presented to the House when it resumed at 2pm.

Petitions were received call for House to:

That the House of Representatives fund bilateral cochlear implants for children who are clinically assessed as needing them, and note that 743 people have signed an online petition and 595 people have signed a petition urging the Government to support this request.

Requesting that the House recommend that the Government conduct an inquiry into the case of Vivian Needham in relation to her dealings with Child, Youth and Family (CYF) and all the purported avenues of redress, and that she be allowed to present this in person.

Annual reports were presented from the New Zealand Artificial Limb Board and the Ngāi Tahu Ancillary Claims Trust, while the Auditor-General’s report, Regional services planning in the health sector, was also presented.

Select Committee reports were presented on the:

Te Tau Ihu Claims Settlement Bill by the Māori Affairs Committee.

Inquiry into improving child health outcomes and preventing child abuse, with a focus from preconception until three years of age (Volumes 1 and 2) by the Health Committee.
