Members’ Day

Members’ bills will be debated in Parliament this evening.

After Question Time and the General Debate, MPs are scheduled to debate the second reading of the New Zealand Mission Trust Board (Otamataha) Empowering Bill.

This will be followed by the third reading of the Electronic Transactions (Contract Formation) Amendment Bill, which is generally supported by MPs, though Labour and others have dismissed it as time-wasting legislation.

MPs will return to the second reading of the Resource Management (Restricted Duration of Certain Discharge and Coastal Permits) Amendment Bill, which is set to be voted down, and then the second reading of the Summary Offences (Possession of Hand-held Lasers) Amendment Bill, which is widely supported.

It is possible MPs might begin debate on the second reading of the Parental Leave and Employment Protection (Six Months' Paid Leave) Amendment Bill.
