When Parliament resumed at 2pm a petition was presented calling on the Government to recognise that the Christians of Syria are a significant but highly threatened minority, put the plight of Christians and other minorities at the forefront of their humanitarian aid programmes, and work towards and support only those outcomes in Syria that allow freedom, equality, and justice for all without discrimination.

A number of statements of intent and performance expectations were presented including, the Children’s Commissioner, Families Commissioner and the NZQA.

The Office of the Clerk’s strategic intentions were presented.

The Auditor-General’s report, State-owned enterprises: Results of the 2013/13 audits, was presented.

Select Committee reports were presented on:

New Zealand Superannuation and Retirement Income Amendment Bill by the Finance and Expenditure Committee

Special report on the 2014/15 Estimates for Vote Social Development by the Social Services Committee

A motion calling on West Papua to allow the media to operate freely was passed on a voice vote.

MPs began Question Time.
