Vandalism Campaign Against Prebble Escalates |
||
Richard Prebble's electorate office window had a rock thrown through it last Thursday night as a campaign of vandalism against ACT in Wellington Central appears to be escalating.
Police were called last Thursday night after the $500 window was smashed and Prebble supporters are mounting nightly patrols of the city to protect their billboards which are constantly being destroyed or defaced.
Around ten days ago Prebble's bus, which serves as a mobile electorate office, was spray-painted with racist slogans while parked on the street and two weeks ago the wipers and mirrors were stolen.
A spokeswoman from Prebble's electorate office said they had no idea who was responsible for the rock attack but they had suspicions about who was responsible for the billboard attacks.
Last night an ACT patrol apprehended people vandalising their billboards but by the time police arrived they had gone.
Politicians across the board have said this is the worst election in memory for vandalism of billboards and party property.
