KIT RICHARDS: The former Timberlands manager who left the company after advising a pro-logging group on how to “target” the government has been re-hired as a consultant. He is being paid around $500 a day.

EMPLOYMENT RELATIONS BILL: The former PM Jenny Shipley says she will be lobbying for amendments to the Employment Relations Bill to improve the bill.

ELECTRICITY CUSTOMERS: Today is the last day for Electricity retailers to make submissions on an agreement on switching customers.

PAKISTAN MURDER: A Pakistan judge has sentenced a man convicted of killing 100 children to die in the same way as his victims. Javed Ikbal is expected to appeal.

TAIWAN: The Taiwanese Government has injected lots of money into the sharemarket to stave off a collapse sparked by threats from China.

FOOD LABELLING: One of the biggest ice-cream makers says consumers will be misled by new food labelling regulations and that ice-cream will end up with animal fat in it.

SNAKES ALIVE: Greens are calling for tighter border control following the find of an Australian snake in Petone.

TOBACCO SUIT: British American Tobacco says that it pays around $1 billion a year in tax and that any legal action against the companies would be unlikely to succeed.

SOLOMON ISLANDS: The Foreign Minister Phil Goff has been urging the leaders if the two islands of the Solomon Islands to encourage their peoples to be more tolerant of each other.

FIJI BOOK: Former Fijian Governor General Ratu Sir Kamiseses Mara is trying to stop the publication of a book by General Sitiveni Rambuka the leader of Coup that claims he knew about the coup plans in advance.
