GE RALLIES: Rallies around the country today are marking the handing over of the royal commission’s report on genetic engineering to the Governor General this afternoon. The groups rallying are calling for New Zealand to be GE free.

SHARE SCAM: The NZ Embassy in Bangkok are trying to reach three New Zealanders arrested in Thailand who are accused of being involved in an international share scam.

ENZA: Enza and representatives of pip fruit growers are set to meet about now to try to negotiate a solution to the question of who pays for Enza’s foreign exchange losses.

KAITAIA DOCTOR: Kaitaia is welcoming an illustrious GP to town. He is a former Springbok team doctor.

ACADEMIC HOME: A US based Chinese academic sentenced to 10 years jail in Beijing for alleged spying has arrived home after being released on humanitarian grounds.

MIDDLE EAST SHOOTING: Suspected Palestinian gunmen have shot and killed an Israeli teenager in a drive by shooting.

TEENAGE GAMBLERS: Initial results of a new survey have found that nearly 20 percent of Auckland teenagers are problem gamblers.

MURDER TRIAL: A High Court jury in Christchurch is now in its fourth day of deliberations in the trial of four men charged with murder over the drive by shooting of a Black Power member last year.
