Lower Hutt Police Bust Alleged Methamphetamine Ring

Two men have been arrested and charged in connection to an alleged methamphetamine supply ring in Lower Hutt over the weekend.

Lower Hutt Police Tactical Coordinator Senior Sergeant Steve Harwood says Police executed search warrants at a Stokes Valley address and a High Street, Lower Hutt address on Saturday as part of an ongoing investigation.

"The warrants followed information supplied to Police. We recovered an amount of methamphetamine as well as a lever action rifle and ammunition."

Senior Sergeant Harwood says it's always a concern for Police to find the lethal cocktail of drugs and firearms at houses.

"Over the past several months we have made it clear that Police across the Hutt Valley are committed to stamping out illegal drugs and organised crime. This investigation over the weekend is part of that commitment and we expect to make further arrests shortly."

Senior Sergeant Harwood says the men aged 24 and 25 years old are now facing a variety of charges including possession of methamphetamine for supply, conspiring to supply methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and will be appearing in the Lower Hutt District Court today.

"Drug dealers and those who associate with them can expect a visit from Police. We are focused on reducing the harm this destructive drug causes amongst our communities across the Hutt Valley."

Anyone who has information they wish to share with Police can do so via the Lower Hutt Police on (04) 560 2600 or by phoning Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
