PORT FACELIFT: The Evening Post leads tonight with a report that Wellington’s port company CentrePort will spend up to $50 million rejigging its facilities, including building new whaves, storage sheds and a fishing jetty.

THE BIG SNOW: The front page photo shows Arrowtown in a white blanket of snow an accompanying story tells how the snowfall has left Central Otago powerless.

- LESBIAN PRISON WEDDING: a report that the Corrections Department is holding an urgent inquiry into the actions of staff and inmates during a lesbian marriage ceremony at Arohata Women’s Prison last week;

- MIGRATION: a report that a sudden exodus of freezing workers will affect Otaki in the next few weeks as former Richmond Ltd employees head for better times in South Australia;

- EAST TIMOR: a report that Prime Minister Jenny Shipley is calling for an urgent report into the safety of 10 New Zealand police officers in East Timor, after an attack on an aid convoy yesterday;

- ALL BLACKS IN CUSTODY: a report that three All Blacks, on tour in Australia with the New Zealand A team, were taken away by police after a punch-up in a Canberra nightclub on Sunday morning;

- COCKROACHES: a report that Four central Wellington restaurants have been closed down by Wellington City Council in the past six weeks becayse of hygiene concerns, which in some cases include coakroaches in kitchens.
