1. MAORI RUGBY PROTEST - There has been a pay protest from players in the Maori rugby team. They are refusing to take money they were paid for touring saying it is an insulting amount and the NZ A team gets paid more. They receive around $33 a day after tax. The Union says it is committed to Maori Rugby and says they will meet with the players to discuss their concerns.

2. KOSOVO - Ethnic divisions have boiled over in Kosovo. Albanian demonstrators blocked a bridge and protested over Serbs occupying Albanian homes. UN forces were called in as scuffles broke out and continued for an hour, there were even fights amongst peace-keepers.

3. INDONESIA - There have been violent clashes between students and police in Indonesia as President Habibe visited a school. The students fear Habibe will stay in power despite his party's poor showing in recent elections.

4. HERBAL FAGS - There are warnings about herbal cigarettes that may be sold in NZ as a marijuana substitute. It is legal to sell them to children. They have caused anger in Australia where they have been on sale. Health officials are powerless to stop the sale here, but may be able to stop them under the Fair Trading Act as claiming to be like marijuana.

5. ABBOTSFORD - Today is the tenth anniversary of the Abbotsford landslide in Dunedin. 69 houses were destroyed as a hillside subsided and collapsed.

6. GALLOPILI - Soldiers who fought in a battle at Gallopili have been remembered in services today.

7. ARSON - Police are investigating a suspicious fire at a school.

8. DUNG LOTTERY - A cow is the unusual way of deciding who wins a raffle at a school fundraiser. The winner being chosen by where it drops its dung.
