1. RADIATION - Deadly radiation has been released around the site of Japan's worst ever nuclear accident. U.s and Russian experts have offered to help contain the effects of the disaster.

- A New Zealand teacher living 12 kilometres from the disaster site says it is difficult for English speakers to obtain information about he catastrophe.

2. EARTHQUAKE - Fifteen people are confirmed dead in the earthquake that hit Mexico early this morning- most in the state of Oaxaca .

3. EAST TIMOR - The peacekeeping troops in East Timor have fired the first shots "in anger" - warning shots from a Gurkha troop to Indonesian militia- as Kiwi troops ready themselves for duty in the territory.

4. RUGBY - A look forward to the Rugby World Cup with only eight hours until the first match kicks off.
