PAY RISE: Embattled bosses of the police and the IRD received pay rises in the year to June. IRD Commissioner Graham Holland received a 16 per cent rise from between $250,000 - $260,000 to between $280,000 - $290,000. Police Commissioner Peter Doone has risen around the same amount to around the same figure.

YOUNG MEN: Winston Peters wants to introduce compulsory military service for all 18 year old men.

BNZ: The BNZ has increased its floating home mortgage rate by .25 per cent to 6.75 per cent due to the falling Kiwi dollar.
